Carron schools and services hit by industrial action
24 NovemberCouncil services in Carron are set to be badly affected by industrial action on Wednesday 30th November, with our local schools all set to be closed on the day, and many other services hit across the Falkirk Council area.
The council has announced that due to the industrial action that all schools, community education facilities, and general public offices – including finance offices - will be closed on 30th November .
For refuse collection services the council are asking residents to check the council website for information on when to leave their bins out
The Council is in discussions with Trade Union colleagues with the aim of agreeing those essential life and limb services that will remain open on the day of strike action. Whilst not yet agreed, we are hopeful that this may include residential care services, emergency care, meals on wheels and other such services for the vulnerable within our communities, as well as emergency housing repairs. These however, are dependent on discussions with Unions. It should be noted that some of these services may only have a skeleton staff to deal with emergency situations.
The council will be using their website to keep our communities advised of arrangements for services on 30th November 2011. Whilst the contact centre will be open, the public are asked to visit the website in the first instance, to help call handlers deal with any emergency calls more quickly, as only a skeleton staff will be available to take calls.
